Creating and Conveying Your Vision Part 2
It is only when every person in your organisation 'thinks', 'feels' and 'acts' (headings in second bracket) in unison with your business's needs (heading in first bracket) that sustainable growth can be achieved. Old paradigm 'leaders' do not fully satisfy what their business requires to excel because they overlook or only partially appreciate what only people can provide.
(Future Shape) (Vision & Aspiration)
Your business will stall without a vision that challenges everyone's aspirations. Vision enables people to see your and their long terms results and be sure of them before they are actually achieved. It enables you and them to see the future shape of things, and to determine where you, and they, want to be. If it's not personal it's not a vision. This is what will motivate everyone through the most difficult times that are sure to come. To be sustainable a vision must reflect everyone's highest aspirations...put simply it must always be much larger than you and them.
(Customers) (Mission, Ownership & Passion)
Your mission is your means to achieving your vision. Mission is about your purpose and determines what you and your organisation do for customers that impacts their future and in so doing, enables you and your organisation to achieve your vision. Only passion and 'ownership' (responsibility) at an individual level connects staff to customers and ensures lasting enthusiasm and commitment to achieving company objectives.
(Boldness) (Values & Belief)
You and your organisation cannot be bold about achieving your vision and mission unless you collectively believe in it and adopt values that that will guide everyone's motives, thinking and behaviour. Well defined values ensure everyone 'signs up' to achieving the highest performance standards through consistently strong relationships and ethics, but also provides a safety net to go back to when things go wrong.
(Focus) (Strategy & Confidence)
Focus on your strategy comes through mutual confidence. Firstly, confidence that your organisation is fully behind you to execute your strategy, is achieved when you know they have travelled with you through these steps and their ProDex measure confirms their willingness and capacity to perform. Secondly, their confidence in you as leader comes from knowing that their highest contributions are valued because you have taken them through these steps and your ProDex measure confirms the strength of your leadership influence.
(Results) (Goals, Destiny & Purpose)
Without written goals to drive us forward...our destiny, purpose and results fade. Because your organisation's written goals are the only tool you and they have to practically link the detail of their activity to the results of your strategy, these preceding steps will ensure their goals are accurately shaped and directed to achieve your highest objectives.
